INVITATION TO ENYA SOCIAL NETWORK / NETWORLDING

We have been doing some research over the past few months about how best to set up an ENYA Social Network / Networld. While this ENYA YOUTHLINKS and other electronic lists are fine for sharing news about ENYA and planning projects and events - it does not encourage or faciliate links and connections between the members and organisations of ENYA.

We looked at several social networking possibilities which would help us to faciliate networking and connecting. NING, MySpace, Facebook, MyChurch, PerfSpot, TakingitGlobal, Care2, iDealist, Flickr and others were explored to see what they offered and to see what might suit our network and at the same time to have a bit of fun.. We eventually decided on using both FACEBOOK and FLICKR.

A new concept introduced by Charles Phillips, international president of Service for Peace, is "networlding," which is described as extending local social networks to the global arena. This creates opportunities and mutually beneficial relationships for all participants, based on common values that include sharing resources and extending help to one another. This sums up very well our main aim with this initiative - which some of you have been asking for -- for some time.

We are just starting up the ENYA Facebook pages and the Flickr pages (where you can upload pictures of your activities and work). We would like to invite you to set up your profile (if you haven't already) add your causes, join groups and get to know other members.. Flickr will be launched in the next couple of weeks, but FACEBOOK is now online and in it's infancy. We invite you to join us in this endeavor.

The URL is http://www.facebook.com. You need to sign up and then you can set up your profile (web page - kind of like a personal page). We would encourage you to use your real name etc - so that real connections can happen. You are also invited to also join the Ecumenical Network for Youth Action group at the following address

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=18690187650 On this page then you can click on the request to join button if you are interested.

You are also invited to "add as Friend" the following contact people for ENYA. They can help you with any questions of concerns. Just type any of the names below or all of them if you which and click on the add "as Friend button". You will then get a dialog box where you can write as message telling us you are responding to this email.

Co-Chairperson: Giorgi Agladze
Co-Chairperson: Marketa Poulickova
Co-coordinator: Cath Moss

Please contact us if you have any questions and we look forward to meeting you in the ENYA Network / Networld.

With best wishes
